DETOUR TO THE UNKNOWN

Hello friends, family and fellow travelers on the road called life. All of us like to map out and plan the direction our life is heading. We all know that we're not in control, but live like we are. This is the story of my rude awakening that I was not in fact in control of my life.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness"2 Corinthians 12:9

Lianne van Iperen

August 8, 1993 - November 13, 2018 (Age 25)

After a short and difficult battle with NUT Midline Carcinoma, Lianne’s heavenly Father took her home on November 13th, 2018.

Lianne was born late evening on August 8th, 1993 in Arnhem, the Netherlands. As the youngest of five she was surrounded by her loving family and friends. Her personality was defined at a young age, she knew what she wanted and went for it. She started school in the Netherlands, loving mathematics and friends. Lianne biked to School met de Bijbel which she attended until emigrating to Canada on November 11, 2004. Lianne picked up English quickly even though the winter months after moving were very difficult. Lianne and Marieta would go on the schoolbus to Lacombe Christian School, they ‘accidentally’ missed the bus multiple times a week when mom was working. Lianne played some volleyball during her years at LCS. She attended Central Alberta Christian High School from which she graduated in 2011. Lianne moved to Calgary where she worked and found out she did not want to have an office job. Moving back home in 2013 she started at Alberta Institute of Massage. She always loved giving people back rubs but there she started learning how to do it professionally and to share her strength and love for health with people. During that time she met Megan Brouwer TenHove; they moved in together and lived in two different houses until summer of 2016, then she moved in with Jocelyn where she lived until September 2018. Lianne started going to Crossroads with Megan and loved it. She had recently become a christian and we saw her life change. Her passion and fire for the Lord became evident in all areas of life. The church family welcomed her in and she became involved in Children and Youth Ministry.. Every day Lianne prayed for her kids, the youth and children at Crossroads. She shared stories of her ministry with many and always wanted God’s name to be lifted higher. Her desire was for all to know her Lord and Saviour. After graduating from Alberta Institute of Massage dad found her a position at Protea Physiotherapy Clinic where she worked for some time. Later she moved her practice to Chiropractic At The Crossing where she worked until just after the diagnosis. Lianne would also go to people’s homes to massage them there. During her spare time she often baked cakes and cupcakes and shared them with family and friends. Everyone needed to be well fed and Lianne made sure that happened. She loved going for coffee with friends to encourage them and hear their stories. Lianne’s weeks were filled with friends - giving them rides and taking them all across town.

Lianne will be dearly missed by her family whom she dearly loved. Her niece and nephews were very important to Lianne, she made sure everyone knew about them. It was hard for Lianne that Marieta and Corné and Erika, Manuel and Juda lived far away. Lianne and Marieta spent hours talking on the phone. In August Lianne received a phone call from the doctor’s office with a possible diagnosis. Marieta was the first one she called and then Lianne went to the Ebenals, her second family. The last three months were a rollercoaster but Lianne never complained. She bore the NUT Midline cross with so much grace. God remained her strength and refuge. Her desire to be with her Lord become stronger but she kept fighting, journeying through doctor and chiropractor appointments. Until the end she reminded everyone to glorify God and to remember that God’s grace is sufficient and His strength is perfected in our weakness. She entered heaven’s gates in the afternoon of November 13th, 2018 surrounded by family and close friends where she dwells in His presence wearing the crown and fulfilling the plan He has for her.

Lianne is survived by Piet Jan and Clasé van Iperen, Peter and Cindy (Charlie, Danielle, Jake, and Alex), Corné and Erika (Manuel and Juda), Helma and Curtis (Liam, Elliot, and Kairan), Marieta and oma van der Lee, uncles and aunts, cousins and friends.
